Mine is shown as aġ2' De-Lux, but they don't explain what makes it delux.:D Sorry, but I'm new to this lathe stuff.:D However, on .uk they show my lathe as a follow on model to the 9' & 12' lathes, which appearantly were similiar. Wooleybooger, I'm not sure what a 618 is. I think it's older than those you have manuals for, but thanks for the offer. I took JH35's recommendation and ordered the 'How to Run a Lathe' book from the link he posted.Ĭutter, I will look for the cover on E-Bay, and tell 'em you sent me.:D Any recommended books or readings would be appreciated.:D It's a new interest that I have to start from nothing to learn. I'm still pretty excited about it overall. Seems a little steep, but I can't seem to find one anywhere else. The only place I've found to get a manual is .uk. I'd like to be assured that the 1/4 hp 1750 rpm motor is right for the job, and some other details that the previous owner didn't seem to know. I'm thinking that I really need the owner's/operator's manual. I experimented with a couple of the cutting tools that I got with it. I played with it a little after reassembling it, and it ran smoothly. All these can be worked around, but I'll try to replace the cover as soon as I can. The motor is not original, the switch has been removed and the safety cover over the pulley/belt is missing. I did a preliminary cleaning while things were apart, but there's more to be done. After I took the motor, tailstock, and steadyrest off to make it a little lighter to manhandle, SWMBO and I got it into the basement without much trouble.

It seems to have been sorely neglected in the TLC department, ie. It is still a better fit for my hobby needs than anything else I've looked at recently. Well, after getting it home and outta the truck this morning, I'm not as excited as I was when I bought it. (I don't yet know why it's a De-Lux, but that's what .uk calls it).:D As I posted in another thread, I succumbed to the lure of makin' chips and bought a Craftsman 12 x 36 De-Lux Lathe from a CL ad nearby.
